Great filesystem contest. Tuned mount options. Postmark results.
I've completed postmark tests for tuned mount options,
they mostly include noatime option and
additional journal=writeback,extents,nobh
options for ext3/ext4 filesystems. That options (mostly journal=writeback I think)
completely killed the whole tests - ext3/ext4 becomes a clear
winer with extremely huge gap between the next competitor.
Frankly, I think there was incorrect setup somewhere, otherwise
my consperacy feeling suggests that Linux VFS layer is heavily
optimized for ext2/3/4 filesystems only (read: specially unfair
for all others). Or something is really broken in design. Or (and likely it is the true)
my tests were broken somehow...
I've also started fsbench
tests, they will be completed tomorrow.
I will clean results up, prepare nice graphs with as small as possible words so that
anyone interested could draw conclusions him/herself.
My goal is just to find an existing maximum performance in different setups.
